Program Title: Interpreting Studies

Describe the proposed degree program change(s) in terms of how the changes differ from the program as currently approved and published in the latest WOU catalog (specify the latest catalog date).
The first cohort of the MA in Interpreting Studies has completed the program. After teaching the courses and receiving feedback from this cohort, we have found that several items need to be addressed to update courses, add and align content, and sequence courses more logically. The changes include both permanent course approvals and course changes.
Permanent Course Approvals
1. INT 423/523 Technology in Interpreting/Interpreter Education (2 credits)
2. INT 606 Special Individual Studies (1-3 credits)
3. INT 607 Seminar (1-3 credits)
4. INT 608 Workshop (1-3 credits)
5. INT 610 Internship and Portfolio (4 credits)
6. INT 612 Proseminar (1 credit)
7. INT 624 Teaching and Technology (1 credit)
Permanent Course Changes
1. Title change from INT 603 Thesis, Professional Project, and/or Field Study to INT 603 Thesis or Professional Project
2. Course re-numbering from INT 611 to INT 645
3. Course description change for INT 630
4. Course description and title change for INT 625
5. Pre-requisite added and number of credits change from 3-2 for INT 650 Teaching Meaning Transfer
6. Course description change and range of credits for INT 609 Practicum

How and when will the effectiveness of these changes be determined?
Effectiveness of changes will be evaluated throughout the second iteration of the MA in Interpreting Studies. Assessment will include collection of SIR data, answers to open-ended questions, and periodic evaluation of the program, faculty, and courses.
