Justification for adding the minor
The Art and Visual Communication Design major courses of study require identical 100-level courses. At the 200-level and above, however, they differ substantially. Currently, Art majors are not allowed to choose the VCD minor because they have already taken half of its required courses as part of their major. This minor creates the opportunity for Art majors to minor in VCD by replacing the redundant 100-level coursework with 200- and 300-level courses.
