Program Change: P00202

Program Title: ASL/English Interpreting
Undergraduate
Describe the proposed degree program change(s) in terms of how the changes differ from the program as currently approved and published in the latest WOU catalog (specify the latest catalog date).
The current catalog lists INT 253: Comparative Linguistics: ASL/English (3-credits) with ASL V as prerequisite. These should both be deleted as indicated in the attachment. The listing should be replaced with INT 353: Linguistics of ASL (3-credits).

Describe the reasons for making this change:
The ASL pre-requisites were changed from two years of ASL to three years of ASL. Not changing INT 253 to 300-level was an oversight. This course will have a pre- or co-requisite of ASL 303D: ASL 9 and a pre-requisite of LING 210.

For Dean Review only:
How and when will the effectiveness of these changes be determined?
INT 353: Linguistics of ASL will be offered as a temporary course change in spring 2010. SIR data from INT 253 from spring 2009 will be compared to data from INT 353 in spring 2010.
