Program Title: Theatre (B.F.A.)

Describe the proposed degree program change(s) in terms of how the changes differ from the program as currently approved and published in the latest WOU catalog (specify the latest catalog date).
Remove all references to ¿TA 406 Independent Study: Capstone Thesis (3)¿ from the Actor Training (one instance) and Production - Individual Area Emphasis (five instances) program requirements sections. Insert ¿TA 453 Capstone Experience (3)¿ into the B.F.A. Core Curriculum requirements.
This change increases the number of credits in the B.F.A. Core Curriculum from 45 to 48 while reducing the number of credits in the Actor Training program from 72 to 69 and the number of credits in the Production program from 74 to 71. Overall this change is credit neutral for both programs. (2009-2010 Catalog)
Describe the reasons for making this change:
This is a house keeping change that simplifies the description of the Theatre B.F.A. program requirements and unifies all Theatre program capstones under the TA 453 course number. This program description change does not change the number or nature of the credits required for the Theatre B.F.A. degree. The Theatre program has not differentiated B.F.A. capstones from B.A./B.S. capstones in recent years so there is no reason to use two different course numbers in the program descriptions. The current program description contains a core curriculum - all those classes that are required of all B.F.A. students. The capstone requirement should be included in this section rather than being listed in each and every training program and emphasis area.
