P00966
Program Title: History
Undergraduate
Describe the proposed degree program change(s) in terms of how the changes differ from the program as currently approved and published in the latest WOU catalog (specify the latest catalog date).
due to deletion of lower-division courses (see prior course deletion requests and rationale, previously submitted, with an explanation included on the attached cover letter), the following language needs to be changed in the catalog (2011-12):
p.64, 65: under history major and history minor, delete the references to HST 101, 102, 103 History of Western Civilization, and delete the references to HST 211 and HST 212 American History Survey. Hereafter, the lower division requirements for the history major and minor will include only HST 104, 105, and 106 (for a total of 12 credits) and HST 201, 202, or 203 (two of the three for a total of 8 credits).
p. 39: under U.S. History, delete references to HST 211 or HST 212, and delete the references to Western Civilization, including the HST 101, 102, and 103 options.
Describe the reasons for making this change:

For Dean Review only:
How and when will the effectiveness of these changes be determined?
All that is involved here is the deletion of courses that will not be offered by the department in the future. The changes are intended to eliminate confusion that might result from students reading about options that are not actually available, due to course changes and deletions relating to changes in the makeup of the department's faculty (see attached explantation)
