Catalog Description:
Basics of storyboarding, planning and executing time based communication. Introduction to animation software and video tools. Prerequisites: A115, A130, A119.
Course Goal and Objectives:
Prepare students for upper division time based communication coursework. Integrate careful visual planning into student work processes.
Justification for adding the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
Necessary course for proposed expansion of visual communication design major to include animation and time-based media, as requested by WOU administration.
Faculty and facilities needed:
2011-2012: hire NTT faculty with motion, narrative, video, animation specialization to teach these courses during the launch of the new program.
Brief Course outline:
3 credit hours/6 contact hours - Planning narrative - Preparing storyboards - Learning software basics - Introduction to technical methods - Integrating video in digital motion - Project work to reinforce course objectives and goals
