New Course Description:
Develop essential information and guidance on designing and building effective data warehousing systems. Data warehousing will develop tools, concepts and approaches to organize vast stores of information. This course explains what data warehousing is, how it works and why the survival of many businesses in the 21st century will depend on leading-edge information architectures. Prerequisite: CS 420

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) 2008 reccommended curriculum describes courses and the material covered in those courses. Since this curriculum is based on a semester model, a move to four hour courses would allow us to cover more of the suggested material.
Students/Program affected:
Only majors and minors in Computer Science and majors in Information Systems are affected. By removing some requirements in the major the affect on the total number of credits required is unaffected.

Comments: There is nothing in the description of the listed courses to explain/justify the shift from 3 to 4 credits. There needs to be the articulation to satisfy interior and exterior challenges in making a credit change. A new catalog description for each course should be included to reflect the additional credit to the course. The professional organization whose assessment of course credit awarded for amount of work should be cited as source for part of the justification. Since the current catalog descriptions list more than the courses can currently cover at 3 credits, perhaps discussion of how the shift to 4 credits actually makes the current syllabus more possible.
6 - Faculty Senate Gavin Keulks RejectedJune 09 2011
Comments: Rejecting to clean up the portal. Deans and above should do same.
