Catalog Description: Students research signed language interpretation theory. They examine and evaluate the research methods, findings, and implications. Students conduct a research project that is qualitative, quantitative, and/or action based. |
Course Goal and Objectives: Upon completing this course, students will be able to: ¿ Analyze various research projects and differentiate qualitative from quantitative research on interpreting, interpreter education, and teaching interpreting. ¿ Analyze various research projects on interpreting, interpreter education, and teaching interpreting for different methodologies. ¿ Evaluate research projects for reliability and validity. ¿ Develop research tracks pertaining to their professional work as interpreters. ¿ Design a research methodology to conduct research. ¿ Conduct research project utilizing his/her design. ¿ Complete project with write-up including analysis of the project, outcome, and recommendations for further research. |
