Course Goal and Objectives: Upon completing this course, students will be able to: Select and justify items, such as work samples and writing, for inclusion in a professional portfolio. Create a comprehensive portfolio. Demonstrate an ability to modify the portfolio to meet various employer needs (e.g., community, education, and conference work) Demonstrate their growth and development as an interpreter via the portfolio submission and defense. |

Brief Course outline: Week 1: Why Develop a Portfolio? Week 2: Portfolios as a reflection of learning and mastery Week 3: Portfolios as a demonstration of reflective inquiry. Week 4: Organizing & Implementing a plan for portfolio development Week 5: What should be included in a portfolio? What could be included? Week 6: How does one present &/or share their portfolio? With whom? Week 7: Alternative portfolio formats (e.g., electronic and web-based) Week 8: Sharing portfolio drafts with classmates Week 9: On-going portfolio development Week 10: Final portfolio defense practice. |
