Course Prefix&Number Descriptive Title Credits/Hours
FS 602 Seminar III: CTL Research Results & Reflections 2 - 2

Abbreviation for Class Schedule(20 spaces)
Seminar III: CTL
Catalog Description:
This course is the final term of a three-term sequence designed to support practicing teachers in fulfilling TSPC requirements for a Continuing Teaching License (CTL). Courses must be taken in sequence. During Spring term candidates will make final revisions to their Action Research Project and complete reflections. Work will be submitted to a second reader for revisions. The course will culminate in a final presentation of candidates¿ Action Research Project.
Course Goal and Objectives:
This course is the third in a three-part series of FS 600, 601, and 602 designed for candidates who plan to advance from an Initial Teaching License to a Continuing Teaching License. Candidates will be guided through the process of documenting that they have met the advanced proficiencies required by TSPC to move from an Initial to a Continuing Teaching License (CTL). This course will develop and expand students' understanding of action research and its place within the K-12 classroom. Emphasis in FS 602 will include: data analysis, constructing a report of research findings, considering implications of action research, and reflection on teaching as a researching profession.
Justification for adding the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
In the past, MSEd students enrolled in the CTL (Continuing Teacher Licensure) program took 6 credits of coursework for this exit option--FS 600 for 3 credits and FS 601 for 3 credits. The MSEd program is changing this six credits of coursework to run across an entire academic year, now completing the six credits via 3 classes--FS 600 for 2 credits in the fall, FS 601 for 2 credits in the winter, and FS 602 for 2 credits in the spring. This will allow those students working on an action research project within the CTL program to plan, research, collect and analyze data, and write their CTL project across an entire school year as well as be involved in coursework and study that expands students' knowledge of advanced assessment techniques and action research protocols.
Faculty and facilities needed:
This course will be taught once/year.
