MUS 366 | Music Since 1961 | 3 - |
Abbreviation for Class Schedule(20 spaces) Music Since 1961 |
Current Course Description: Historical investigation of the major compositional styles developed by late 20th century composers, as well as a consideration of cross influences among classical, popular, and folk genres worldwide. Prerequisites: MUS 362, 364, and 365 |
New Course Description: Historical investigation of major compositional styles and performance practices prevalent in the North and South America, and Europe since 1961. [No prerequisites] |
Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.): The course surveys the music and musicians of the past fifty years. The title change better reflects the content of the course. The use of 1961 is preferable to 1960 to avoid the common mistake that the course only covers the music of the 1960s. No prerequisite in needed to take the class. MUS 365 is rarely taught, and MUS 364 and MUS 365 are not necessary for students to succeed in MUS 366. |
