Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.): The term "content area literacy" is widely known and contains a body of research that supports the importance of literacy integration and learning across content areas within elementary, middle, and high schools. A course in "content area literacy" more clearly delineates the content of the course and will be more widely recognized by future employers and universities our students may attend or be employed by. |
