Current Course Description:
Enables the preservice teacher to apply theories of human development and learning to a variety of classroom settings. Major theories of language and reading will be examined as they apply to emergent and developing readers in preschool through elementary grades. Introduction to the relationships between assessment and instructional decision-making.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
The current course description and title are not appropriate for students pursuing teacher licensure at the elementary level. This modification signals which course should be taken for those seeking licensure at the early childhood only and early childhood/elementary levels and our proposed revision for ED 333 will signal which class is appropriate for those seeking licensure at the secondary level.

All students enrolled in the undergraduate/post-bacc. program who have been admitted to the Education Core.
