Abbreviation for Class Schedule(20 spaces) CONT PED I:

Current Course Description: Course is designed to introduce experimentation with teaching strategies within specific academic disciplines and to promote interaction among students, discussions regarding methodology, professionalism and research in their academic disciplines.

New Course Description: Course is designed to emphasize standards-based assessment, planning and instructional strategies within specific academic disciplines to improve PK-12 learning, including students of diverse backgrounds and needs. Examination of related professionalism resources and research in their academic disciplines.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.): ED 434/534 and ED 436/536 are required of all elementary/middle and middle/high initial licensure students at WOU. These courses are not sequential and do not need to be taken in order. The Provost has requested that we remove language that indicates this from the course descriptions.

Students/Program affected: Undergraduate elementary/middle and middle/high initial licensure students. All MAT initial licensure students.
