Current Course Description:
Linear equations, linear systems, linear inequalities, and quadratic equations verbally, numerically, graphically and symbolically. Explores topics using a graphic calculator as well as traditional approaches. Credits earned apply for enrollment (eligibility) but do not apply toward a degree; satisfies no university or college requirement. Additional fee applies.

New Course Description:
Basics of algebra, including arithmetic of signed numbers, order of operations, problem solving; linear equations verbally, numerically, graphically and symbolically; linear modeling, regression, inequalities, and systems; and an introduction to functions. Explores topics using a graphing calculator as well as traditional approaches. Credits earned apply for enrollment (eligibility) but do not apply toward a degree; satisfies no university or college requirement. Additional fee applies.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
As coordinator for some of the lower level classes in the Mathematics Department, the Course Catalog descriptions did not appear to match what is actually taught in the course. The new proposed description accurately matches what is taught in the course.

Anyone who takes MTH 070; Most important for determining transfer of credits and equivalent prerequisites from other institutions.
