Current Course Description:
see attached

New Course Description:
An in-depth examination of anatomical structures and physiological mechanisms that function to maintain local and global homeostasis within the human body. This sequence is designed for students intending to pursue future studies in professional health fields. Laboratory component includes anatomical studies using histological slides, models, and human cadavers. Three hours of lecture and three hours of laboratory per week. Prerequisites: 213 or consent of instructor for admission to BI 334; Passing grade in BI 334 required for admission to BI 335; Passing grade in BI 335 required for admission to BI 336.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
We would like to group the three courses together as a single sequence in the catalog. This will better reflect to students that the three courses are inter-related and should not be viewed as separate entities. The change in pre-requisite from BI 212 to BI 213 reflects a change in content within our introductory sequence; material previously covered in BI 212 has been moved to BI 213. *Note: EACH course in this series is 4 credits; this was challenging to show using the available on-line form pull-down box options.
Students/Program affected:
This change will affect students majors in biology (general biology / pre-professional emphases), minoring in biology, and seeking a year-long sequence in advanced human anatomy and physiology for professional programs outside a particular major or minor.
