Current Course Description:
ASL 430 Methodology and Curriculum: American Sign Language Teaching (3) Focuses on theories of second language acquisition and approaches to developing and implementing classroom methods and strategies for second language teaching, primarily teaching ASL. Prerequisite: ASL 101, 102, 103, 201, 202, 203, LING 210, or permission of instructor

New Course Description:
ASL 430 Methodology and Curriculum: American Sign Language Teaching (3) Focuses on theories of second language acquisition and approaches to developing and implementing classroom methods and strategies for second language teaching, primarily teaching ASL. Prerequisite: ASL 303D, INT 353D, ASL 425D or with a permission of instructor

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
Students who plan on becoming ASL teachers must have near native fluency in ASL. Therefore, we are proposing that students who elect to take the teaching ASL series must complete ASL 303, INT 353 and ASL 425 with a B or better and this is prerequisite to taking ASL 430: Methodology and Curriculum .
