Current Course Description:
ASL 435 Mentoring for ASL Specialists and Teachers (3) This course prepares experienced ASL specialists and teachers with skills and knowledge to become mentors and resource specialists for less experienced or entry-level ASL specialists and teachers. Special focus will be on various assessment and evaluation strategies that can be applied to mentoring. Prerequisite: ASL 101, 102, 103, 201, 202, 203, LING 210, or permission of instructor

New Course Description:
ASL 435 Mentoring for ASL Specialists and Teachers (3) This course prepares experienced ASL specialists and teachers with skills and knowledge to become mentors and resource specialists for less experienced or entry-level ASL specialists and teachers. Special focus will be on various assessment and evaluation strategies that can be applied to mentoring. Prerequisite: 430D or with a B or better permission of instructor

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
Students who plan on becoming ASL teachers must have near native fluency in ASL. Therefore, we are proposing that students who elect to take the teaching ASL series must complete ASL 303, INT 353, ASL 425D, 430D with a B or better and this is prerequisite to taking ASL 435: Mentoring for ASL Specialists and Teachers.
