Current Course Description:
This course will cover the history of modern Italy from the era of Habsburg dominance to the present. Emphasis will be placed on the 19th and 20th centuries; the Liberal era prior to 1914; the rise of fascism, the transition from fascism to democracy; and the politics, culture, and society of the post-1945 Italian Republic.

New Course Description:
This course examines the development of Paris from the beginnings through the present with emphasis on the last three centuries. The city is examined from the political, social, ecological, and architectural points of view as well as through the perspective of urban planning and immigration.
