Current Course Description:
Survey of the artistic, historical and archaeological evidence for the role of women in the society of the ancient world.

New Course Description:
This course examines Postcolonial North Africa from the Battle of Algiers to the Arab Spring. We will analyze the transition from colonial to independent regimes, and will begin our course with the anti-colonial revolutionary movements that led to independence from Europe in the 1950s and 60s. The course will conclude by tracing the events that formed the Arab Spring.
