To:
Course Prefix & Number Descriptive Title Credits/Hours
A 199 Special Studies 1 - 4

Abbreviation for Class Schedule(20 spaces)
SPECIAL STUDIES

Current Course Description:
Terms and hours to be arranged. Eligible for the RP grade option.

New Course Description:
Terms and hours to be arranged. Eligible for the RP grade option.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
This is a variable credit course that can be used as a by-arrangement option. In order to align this course with our program, we would like to change the variable credit from 1-3 credits to 1-4 credits. Expectations of student work (time, research and number of projects completed) is proportional to the number of credits taken and is contracted with the instructor. Assignments/projects and student expectation vary by course content and instructor. On average, students are expected to work for 14 hours a week (combining in-class and outside class time) in order to successfully complete required projects for a 4-credit course. Student expectations would be contracted proportional to the credit load.
Students/Program affected:
Students/Program affected: Very few students would be affected; only a rare student needing a by-arrangement art course.
