Catalog Description:
This one-credit course will expose students to the many sources available for funding technology in educational settings. Students will learn to locate grant opportunities, to understand the proposal process, and to develop a well-written grant proposal.
Course Goal and Objectives:
Through readings, activities, and assignments, students will: ¿ Know how to identify and articulate a need for technology ¿ Know where to look for funding opportunities for technology resources and projects ¿ Understand the grant-writing process ¿ Understand the elements of a successful proposal ¿ Know how to establish partnerships that will aid in obtaining grants ¿ Develop skills for researching and writing a successful grant proposal
Justification for adding the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
This course will meet elective requirements for the MSED Information Technology program as well as the MAT technology component. The class is aligned with ISTE National Educational Technology Standards and the Framework for 21st Century Learning, which form the framework for the MSEd Information Technology program and underlie the technology requirement for teacher licensure.

The following topics will be covered in this class: ¿ Introduction to funding for technology ¿ Introduction to major funding sources ¿ Identifying and articulating a need ¿ Defining your project: writing goals, objectives, and measurable outcomes for a proposal ¿ Locating and working with partners ¿ Identifying the right funding source for your project ¿ Understanding grant proposal guidelines ¿ Developing a budget ¿ Developing a timeline ¿ Writing and submitting a proposal
