Current Course Description: Focus on the nature of social studies, national and state standards, relevant professional organizations, resources and opportunities. Students will learn and use different teaching strategies, concept attainment, technology and literacy integration, field methods, and assessment approaches. Models for integration of social studies with other core areas will be explored. Emphasis will be on active participation and modeling of strategies being taught. Prerequisite: PSY 218 |

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.): Our new social studies educator, Dr. Ken Carano, believes students will be better prepared to engage in meaningful conversations in social studies education with HST and GEOG content already completed. |
Students/Program affected: All elementary education majors and some elementary/middle education majors (depending on middle level focus area). |
