Current Course Description:
2012-2013 Catalog, p. 164 An examination of the social and vocational implications of hearing loss on individuals who are hard of hearing and Deaf. Also, an extensive review of the social services that respond to the unique needs of this population with an emphasis on the state vocational rehabilitation agency.

New Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to assist students to become aware of the specialized issues found in doing vocational (and related) counseling with Deaf, Deaf-Blind and Hard of Hearing individuals. Upon completing this course, students will have an understanding of the psychological, social and vocational implications of having a hearing loss and will have experienced an extensive review of the rehabilitation service system's response to the unique needs of people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Students will also be familiar with legal, governmental and online resources related to service provision with this population.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
The Rehabilitation Counselor Education program is requesting this description change so that it more accurately reflects the content of the course.

Undergraduates and graduate students who attend the RCDHHA summer certificate program.
