Current Course Description:
2012-2013 Catalog, p. 163 Provides students with an understanding of the impact of hearing loss on access to both oral/ aural communication and environmental cues/ alarms. Students are exposed to technology that can improve communication access for individuals experiencing hearing loss across a variety of settings.

New Course Description:
This course provides students with an understanding of the impact of hearing loss on access to oral/aural communication, and exposes students to a wide range of technology that can improve communication access for individuals experiencing hearing loss across a variety of settings, (e.g., employment, education, postsecondary, home, and recreation). Samples of assistive listening, speech-to-text, telecommunication, alerting devices will be demonstrated. Use of interpreters will also be discussed.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
The Rehabilitation Counselor Education program is requesting this description change so that it more accurately reflects the content of the course.
