New Course Description: A study of the chemistry of carbon compounds including their structure, reactions and syntheses. Three lectures. For Ch335, co-enrollment with Ch337 Organic Chemistry Lab I (worth 1 credit hour) is mandatory. For Ch336, co-enrollment with Ch338 Organic Chemistry Lab II (worth 2 credit hours) is also mandatory. Prerequisites: CH 223 or consent of instructor; for Ch335 a passing grade in Ch 334 is required; for CH 336 a passing grade in CH 335 and Ch337 is required. |
Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.): Changing the organic chemistry sequence to bring it into alignment with other OUS institutions. Will take care of transfer issues. The only thing that is changing is the lab component, not the lecture. The lecture will be 3 hours each. See additional new course requests for the new organic labs Ch 337 and Ch 337. Note: these new labs so far have only been offered using temporary course requests. When combined with the two new organic lab courses (3 hours total), the total hours for a year of organic chemistry won't change. |
