New Course Description: Similarities and differences in women's lives in a variety of cultures around the world. Evolutionary and historical precedents for contemporary patterns of gender role construction; economic, social and ideological challenges to women seeking change in existing gender hierarchies. |
Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.): We wish to drop the prerequisite for this course. Relevant material covered in ANTH 216 will be provided to students at the initial class meeting. This will facilitate access for interested students who do not have the opportunity to take introductory courses. |
Students/Program affected: Students who are not anthropology majors will have access to the course. This will be especially helpful to transfer students who have completed core curriculum requirements and have limited time for electives. |
