Catalog Description:
Students will learn basic laboratory techniques for purifying and identifying organic compounds. The topics covered will be thin layer chromatography, gas chromatography, extraction, recrystallization, simple and fractional distillation, melting points, boiling points, derivatives, spectroscopy an using the chemical literature for obtaining physical property information. Students enrolled in Ch337 must also be co-enrolled in Ch335.
Course Goal and Objectives:
To train students in the methods of purifying organic compounds and determining sample purity.

This change will WOU into alignment with other OUS institutions. Will take care of transfer issues.

Brief Course outline:
This laboratory will concern itself with methods of purifying organic compounds and will introduce methods of determining sample purity.
