Catalog Description: This field experience is designed to follow completion of SpEd 590 ASD: Eligibility, Assessment & Effective Consultation and is designed to meet selected TSPC Specialization: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) standards and competencies. Candidates will demonstrate competency in the application of instructional strategies learned in class, including: understanding of the evaluation process by assisting in the completion of the required components for the assessment for the identification (initial and re-evaluation) of an individual with ASD; providing feedback to adults serving individuals with ASD to strengthen teaching practice and improve learning for the learner; training and coaching skills by demonstrating the ability to assess, plan and use an appropriate evidenced based format for training and coaching (e.g., 1:1, hands-on work, staff meeting, workshops, etc.). Candidates will complete a minimum of 60 total hours in an educational setting with student/adult learners. Eligible for the RP grade option Prerequisite: SpEd 590 and permission of instructor |
