Current Course Description:
Students will demonstrate the ability to apply teaching strategies of discrete trial, pivotal response training and visual strategies in 1:1 instructional setting. Students receive training in the prescribed teaching methods, and demonstrate basic competency in the application of methods. Eligible for the RP grade option. Prerequisite: SPED 487/587

New Course Description:
This field experience is designed to follow completion of SpEd 487/587 ASD: Evidence-based Teaching Methods and Strategies. Students will demonstrate the ability to apply teaching strategies of discrete trial, pivotal response training and visual strategies in 1:1 instructional setting. The student spends a minimum of 30 hours in an educational setting for children with autism. They will receive training in the prescribed teaching methods, and demonstrate basic competency in the application of methods.Eligible for the RP grade option. Prerequisite: SpEd 487/587 and permission of instructor
