Abbreviation for Class Schedule(20 spaces) Musical Theatre St 1 |
Current Course Description: An introduction to Musical Theatre performance with emphasis on Musical Theatre acting techniques, score reading, and text analysis. |
New Course Description: An introduction to Musical Theatre performance with emphasis on Musical Theatre acting techniques, score reading, and text analysis. |
Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.): All three of the Musical Theatre Studio courses are taught concurrently, with specific assignments given to students at each level. Because of the intense focus on workshopping the students' preparation and performance, we have had to 1) limit the number of students allowed into the class, and 2) limit the number of assignments each student can accomplish. Expanding the class to four credits gives us much more flexibility, and can allow a few more students into the class each time it's taught. |
Students/Program affected: This change affects only those students who are pursuing a BA/BS in Theatre with a Musical Theatre Emphasis. (Others may take the class as an elective.) While this does increase the credit load for those students who take the Musical Theatre Studio sequence, this is offset by other planned changes in the program. The result is that there is no overall increase in credit load for the student, while enhancing what we can do in the individual classes. Other than that, there is no additional impact. |
