Catalog Description: Students will create a professional, business, or education related website using free web-based software, widgets, and training. The course emphasizes learning by doing and following best practices for creating user-friendly web sites. This class is designed to train and develop web design skills as well as develop the ability to work with and employ free, online tools. By closely learning one system, students can apply that knowledge and easily integrate with other systems available online. |
Course Goal and Objectives: At the end of the course, students will: ¿ understand, recognize, and apply basic principles of web site navigation, wireframing, and design ¿ understand, recognize, and apply basic principles of web accessibility and usability; ¿ locate, embed, create, maintain, and/or generate written, audio, visual, and video content for a website ¿ adhere to copyright laws and make appropriate use of public domain and Creative Commons materials ¿ incorporate free widgets and gadgets on their site, as well as material and plugins coded by other people ¿ evaluate online resources to determine if they are appropriate for their site and site¿s needs; ¿ customize multiple aspects of multiple templates on their site. |
