Justification for adding the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
SpEd 634 Medical Aspects & Low Incidence Methods will be a required course for both Special Educator I (licensed teachers) and Special Educator II (non-licensed) students. SpEd 634 is a new course that combines two existing courses ¿ SpEd 632 Medical Aspects of Low Incidence Disabilities and SpEd 633 Low Incidence Disabilities Methods. It is the view of faculty and sessional instructors that the two courses can be combined with virtually no loss of essential content. The resulting combined course, SpEd 634, will help reduce credit requirements in the WOU Special Educator Programs to be more competitive with other Oregon universities offering graduate-level special education licensure programs.
