Current Course Description:
The study of military leadership, management, and theory and dynamics of the military team. Apply principles to advanced military operations. Includes: leadership, management, and organizational theory, group dynamics, functions of staff organizations, development of the commanders estimate, combat orders and plans, troop leading procedures, application of leadership concepts in offense and defensive operations at the squad, platoon, and company level, and fundamentals of small unit tactics/patrolling.

New Course Description:
The study of military leadership, management, and theory and dynamics of the military team. Apply principles to advanced military operations. Prerequisite: Consent of Instructor

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
The MS 300 series is the start of the Advance Course of Military Science. Students in this series have committed to the Army and seek a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant incurring a service obligation. Students must meet specific entry requirements to be allowed into the Advance Course of Military Science. In order to ensure students meet these requirements, and provide the instructor visibility and oversight of those seeking enrollment into the class a prerequisite is necessary.
