Current Course Description:
An exploration of the musical components of rhythm in relation to dance. Elements such as beat, meter and form are studied and developed in the context of movement and choreography. Also explored is the potential for collaboration between dancers and musicians and basic elements of rhythmic notation. Prerequisite: MUS 213, beginning dance sequence or consent of instructor

New Course Description:
An exploration of the musical components of rhythm in relation to dance. Elements such as beat, meter and form are studied and developed in the context of movement and choreography. Also explored is the potential for collaboration between dancers and musicians and basic elements of rhythmic notation.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
Removing the prerequisite will enable students to register for this course without having to obtain an instructors signature. This should allow both the faculty and administration to better judge this course's potential enrollment prior to the first scheduled course meeting.
