Current Course Description:
Survey of fundamental concepts of conditioning, rate learning, discrimination, theories of reinforcement, extinction and avoidance learning. Major theories of learning, and related experimental literature. Prerequisite: PSY 201 or PSY 218 or equivalent.

New Course Description:
Survey of fundamental concepts of learning including classical, instrumental, and operant conditioning. Investigates the spectrum of learning and human behavior from reflexes and simple learning to thinking and language. Prerequisite: PSY 201 or PSY 218 or equivalent.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
This updated course description more accurately reflects the way the course is taught and current research in the field. Updating the description will provide students a better understanding of the topics presented in the course.
Students/Program affected:
This course can be used as an elective for psychology majors, psychology minors, or any student completing coursework in psychology.
