Current Course Description: FR 201, 202, 203 Second Year French (4 each) This sequence focuses on deepening and broadening students¿ abilities to understand written and spoken French and to speak and write French, and provides students the opportunity to round out their knowledge of the basics of the French language. By the end of this sequence, students will have acquired sufficient knowledge to move on to the thirdyear level at WOU or participate in a study abroad program in France. Prerequisite: FR 103 is prerequisite for FR 201; FR 201 is prerequisite for FR 202; FR 202 is prerequisite for FR 203

New Course Description: FR 202 students expand conversation and writing skills by discussing subjects like the new and traditional media and movies, as well as mastering new vocabulary relevant to these themes. They develop skill with more advanced verb tenses (passé composé, imparfait, plus que parfait) and more advanced part of speech (tonic pronouns, object pronouns, possessive adjectives, demonstrative pronouns), allowing discussion of past events with increasingly complex sentences. Cultural exposure to French/francophone media is an important part of the class. Prerequisite: FR 201 or instructor permission.
