Current Course Description: FR 201, 202, 203 Second Year French (4 each) This sequence focuses on deepening and broadening students¿ abilities to understand written and spoken French and to speak and write French, and provides students the opportunity to round out their knowledge of the basics of the French language. By the end of this sequence, students will have acquired sufficient knowledge to move on to the thirdyear level at WOU or participate in a study abroad program in France. Prerequisite: FR 103 is prerequisite for FR 201; FR 201 is prerequisite for FR 202; FR 202 is prerequisite for FR 203

New Course Description: FR 203 looks to new horizons by talking/writing about travel and places across the globe where French is spoken. The most advanced structures of the language are studied (past and present conditional, past and present future, present subjunctive verb tenses; prepositions and relative pronouns for parts of speech). Mastery of these forms allows students to discuss hypothesis, subjective points of view, and project into the future in increasingly complex speech. Exposure to Francophone culture from different parts of the world through videos, songs, movies, articles will be an important part of the class. Prerequisite: FR 202 or instructor permission.
