Current Course Description:
Explores the art and science of Organizational Development (OD) which is a conscious, planned process of developing an organization¿s capabilities so that it can attain and sustain an optimum level of performance as measured by efficiency, effectiveness, and health. Students will become familiar with various techniques used to bring about successful change efforts in individual employees, groups and teams, inter-groups, and organizations. Students will also develop insights into organizational functioning, and develop skills for effective managing/consulting. Prerequisites: PSY 201 and 202 or equivalent. PSY 334 and/or PSY 445 recommended

New Course Description:
Explores the art and science of Organizational Development (OD) which is a series of planned interventions by which human resources are identified , utilized, and developed in ways that strengthen organizational effectiveness by increasing problem solving capacities and planning. The course examines topics such as: models of organizational change; diagnosis and feedback of organizational challenges; evidence-based intervention strategies at the individual, group, inter-group, and organizational level; and minimizing resistance to change. Attention will also be given to helping students to understand and improve their skills for effective managing/consulting. Prerequisites: PSY 201 and 202 or equivalent, or consent of instructor. PSY 445 recommended

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
To provide a more accurate course description and clarification for students. Adjustment to the prerequisites allows greater access to non-major and minor students.
Students/Program affected:
Primarily Psychology Majors and to a lesser degree Psychology Minors.
