Catalog Description: Computer based self-paced course, offered under the guided instruction of a Mathematics Instructor. Students will focus on studying the mathematical topics they need to master to place into a higher level mathematics course. Offered weeks 6 ¿ 10.

Course Goal and Objectives: Provide guided instruction to help students at any level prepare for increased success on the math placement test and future mathematics courses.

Justification for adding the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.): Many of the students who enroll at WOU are not college-ready in mathematics. This course offers a quicker remediation option than MTH 070 and MTH 095 and helps students focus on the specific skills they need to learn to place into a college level mathematics class.

Faculty and facilities needed: ¿ One computer lab per section for 4 hours per week for 5 weeks (currently scheduled as two 2-hour blocks) ¿ current Mathematics Department computer lab in MNB 110 is sufficient ¿ 1 faculty member ¿ currently covered by existing NTT faculty

Brief Course outline: Students will work on individualized remediation plans using computer based software with guidance from instructor. MATH PREP B is offered weeks 6 ¿ 10 and students may choose to take the first course (MATH PREP A, MTH 067, offered weeks 1 ¿ 5) and then take MATH PREP B, or they may choose to start with the MATH PREP B course.
