This sequence of courses is open to any student who wishes to begin the study of French or has had less than one year of high school French or its equivalent. Prerequisite: FR 101 is a prerequisite for FR 102; FR 102 is a prerequisite for FR 103

New Course Description:
In the first term of introductory French, students learn to converse at a basic level, with pronunciation that would be understood by a sympathetic native speaker. The goal is to be able to get basic needs met in French through asking and answering questions. Reading diverse examples of French provides models for writing. Contexts include people inside and outside the classroom; family life at home, in town and in the country, and what people do for daily activities. Throughout the curriculum, French is linked to the students¿ own lives while they also learn about Francophone cultures and peoples and observe cultural similarities and differences.
