Catalog Description:
This course is a deep exploration into the teaching and learning of geometry and measurement in grades K-8. Investigation of the learning trajectory of geometry and measurement throughout the K-8 curriculum, and instruction and activities based on effective standards for mathematical practice will be emphasized. Attention will also be given to deepening the candidates understanding of the mathematics and specialized content knowledge related to the teaching of geometry and measurement as outlined in the Common Core State Standards for grades K-8.

Faculty and facilities needed:
For our complete EMIL program, the Mathematics Department intends to offer three new 3-credit 600 level hybrid courses during each academic year and additional courses summer terms. NTT faculty will be used to teach 9 credits per academic year of lower level coursework tenure track faculty teaching the EMIL courses would have taught. Our team will take advantage of the Center for Teaching and Learning, and the Moodle Support Team as we implement the offering of our new courses. We intend to schedule our on campus meetings on Saturdays, and will be able to use existing Mathematics Department facilities for those class meetings.

We will investigate the teacher learner and student standards for Math 613 as outlined in Appendix B in the attached document EMIL_Math.pdf
