Psych of Creativity
Catalog Description:
Examines and integrates a broad range of creativity research in psychology and related scientific fields including anthropology, sociology, and cognitive neuroscience. Topics include individual creativity as well as the social and cultural contexts of creativity, including the role of collaboration in the creative process. Prerequisites: PSY 201 and 202 or equivalent, or consent of instructor.
Course Goal and Objectives:
Students completing this course will 1. demonstrate an understanding the components that influence individual creativity 2. demonstrate an understanding of the sociocultural components that impact creative activity 3. demonstrate the ability to think creatively
Justification for adding the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
1. This course provides students in the Organizational Leadership minor another option to satisfy their critical thinking/innovation component. 2. This course provides students in the Psychology major another option to satisfy their Industrial/Organizational Psychology component. 3. This course allows students to gain knowledge and develop skills in being innovative/creative working both individually and with others. 4. This course provides students interested in Industrial/Organizational psychology another course option in this specialization area.
