New Course Description:
A comparative analysis of animal physiology, emphasizing how different animals work and why they have evolved to work the way they do. Animal physiology at the level of the cell, the organ system, and the organism will be discussed. Included in this course will be an examination of various aspects of human physiology. Three one-hour lectures and one three-hour laboratory. Prerequisites: BI 211, 212, and 213 or consent of instructor.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
The basic concepts of animal physiology are the same in invertebrates and vertebrates. Changing the course name from ¿Comparative Vertebrate Physiology¿ to ¿Comparative Animal Physiology¿ will give the instructor more flexibility in choosing experimental animals for lab exercises and introduce more animal diversity into the course.
