Justification for adding the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
ED453Applied Learning: Science and Mathematics is currently the course early childhood and early childhood elementary majors currently take as their only math and science pedagogy course while in the education program. That course is not adequate to address the teacher preparation standards as outlined in the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics or the National Science Teachers Association. By splitting the ED453 course our elementary majors will be better prepared to teach science and mathematics.
Faculty and facilities needed:
Existing capacity currently exists within the Division of Teacher Education and no unique facilities needs are required.
