New Course Description:
Selected topics in the science of microbiology with an emphasis on microbial structures and physiology as they impact diversity and ecology, biotechnology, and diseases (bacterial, viral, and protozoal). Involved lab component represents nearly half course grade. Prerequisites: BI 211, 212, 213, CH 221, 222, 223. BI 314 and BI 315 strongly recommended ¿ offered winter and spring terms

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
This required lab-based course, currently taught during fall and winter terms, will be moved to winter and spring terms in order to better accommodate teaching and facilities constraints associated with concurrently teaching Bi 318 (Microbiology for the Health Sciences). In addition, the changes in the Introductory Genetics and Cell Biology course numbers from Bi 311 to Bi 314 and from Bi 313 to Bi 315, respectively, which are ¿strongly recommended¿ classes for this course will also be noted.
Students/Program affected:
Biology ¿ All Emphases; Biology Teacher Education Degree; Environmental Studies minor elective; Integrated Science Teacher Education major option
