Abbreviation for Class Schedule(20 spaces) ARH:MIDDLE AGES-REN

Current Course Description: A survey of art and architecture from the Gothic to Rococo period. Particular attention is given to issues of style, patronage, iconography, roles of artists in society and cultural responses to art as it relates to Western cultures.

New Course Description: Historical survey of painting, sculpture and architecture in both the Western and non-Western traditions from the early Middle Ages through the Renaissance. Art works will be considered in their stylistic, cultural, and historical contexts.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.): This very slight change allows for a more balanced "break up" of course subject matter in each quarter of this year long survey of art history. Making this change also puts our introductory art history survey more in alignment with that of other institutions on the quarter system.

Students/Program affected: Art Program majors and minors, and students taking this course for LACC credits.
