Catalog Description: A continuation of study in Musical Theatre performance with emphasis on relationships, staging, and live performance. |
Course Goal and Objectives: At the end of this course, students will: 1)Have learned techniques for building strong character relationships in Musical Theatre 2)Have explored the use of backstory, memory, fantasy, etc. to intensify performance 3)Have learned how phrasing is used to connect dialogue to songs, and within songs to create emphasis and meaning 4)Have explored basic staging techniques, including still and movement, body control, and anchoring |
Justification for adding the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.): This course will be part of a new emphasis area (if approved) in Musical Theatre within the existing Theatre B.A./B.S. degree. |
