Catalog Description:
An in-depth study of the literature of a specific minority or ethnic group in the U.S., such as African-American, Chicano, etc. Specific focus will be identified in each year¿s schedule of classes. May be taken twice if content is not repeated. Pre-requisite: Eng 218 or consent of instructor.
Course Goal and Objectives:
--In-depth work with a single text, author, period, or style --Focus on the minority point of view and context --Place the relationship with the larger literary tradition
Justification for adding the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
This course will go in greater depth than the parallel 389 course; it will also provide access to a dedicated diversity course at the 400 level for English and Language Arts majors, and for graduate students.
