Catalog Description:
An in-depth study of literary works outside the European/US tradition, such as African or Asian. Specific focus will be identified in each year¿s schedule of classes. Pre-requisite: Eng 218 or consent of instructor.
Course Goal and Objectives:
Expand cultural awareness through study of non-Western literatures Examine a text, author, period, or style of a non-Western tradition in depth Explore the aesthetic of a non-Western literary tradition
Justification for adding the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
Add regular, dedicated diversity options, especially for undergraduate language arts majors and graduate students (This course balances in-depth study with the broad study offered in Eng 390.)
